The Comprehensive Partner Intervention Program is an Intimate Partner Violence Intervention program. This program is for persons charged or convicted of domestic violence, battering, threatening, intimidating, controlling, and other forms of aggressive, violent behaviors toward intimate partners, children, or other family members. This is not a 10 or 12 week anger management program or class. This is a treatment program that encourages, teaches, and promotes true individual change. Referrals come from Children and Youth Services, Lawrence County Probation and Parole, and PA State Parole and Probation.
This model requires assessment of the individual, and is a clinically driven, best practice intervention to assist the individual to stop violent behaviors, through changing violent emotions, thoughts and feelings. Education, cognitive behavioral interventions, promotion of personal responsibility for the behavior, rejection of victim blaming, learning non-violent conflict resolution and promotion of empathy towards those impacted by abuse and violent behavior. The program incorporates Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Solution Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral interventions.
This program does NOT shame, humiliate, or embarrass individuals involved in the program. The program helps the individual understand the underlying causes and contributing factors of the emotions and behaviors, offering opportunities for change, practice of newly learned skills, engaging in meaningful relationships while taking responsibility and accountability for the harm they have caused. Comprehensive Partner Intervention consists of assessment, individual and group counseling, and may include family counseling if appropriate.
